Bull Brand Foods is a vertically integrated red meat company with a reputation for export quality fresh beef and superior grade, well priced canned meals. The business has diversified into new value-added product ranges.
Bull Brand services the local market as well as exporting to Europe, UK, Botswana and the rest of Africa. With a portfolio of well known brands such as Bull Brand, Spekenham, Gants and Apex labels, it has a full product range of fresh beef products as well as lamb, sheep and pork products. These are sold under the SAMS tender Beef, Bull Brand Grainfed and Bull Brand Tender brands. Bull Brand Foods is continually looking to increase its range of products focused on the “convenience” end of the food chain. This includes recently launched products such as “Cowboy King” burgers as well as Bull Brand biltong, Salami and Dry Wors snax.
The driving force behind production is at the Krugersdorp premises which processes and packages both the canned and fresh meat products. The facilities encompass an abattoir, production, canning, retail and wholesale operations – and it is the man distribution hub. These are laid out according to European Union specifications, in terms of an export-approved certification and are one of only two SA meat exporters to have achieved this EU accreditation. Bull Brand are also accredited for Kosher slaughtering by the Beth Din, and affiliated to the SA National Halaal Association (SNHA) for Halaal slaughtering.
Two feedlots - Hurland in Magaliesburg and Taaiboschbult in Potchefstroom - have standing capacity for almost 42 000 cattle. The two sites are specialists in feed formulation technologies and the maintenance of an environmentally secure area to combat the threat of disease. They have contracted specialist veterinarians. Both have ISO 14001 certification.
