Brenmill is the holding company of three milling companies operating in the Northern Province and Gauteng. Its subsidiaries operate three maize mills, one animal feed mill, a sorghum plant, and also carry on business as grain merchant pre-packers. Brenmill was a family controlled business for 66 years, then in 1997 a management buyout, assisted by Global Capital and Fabcos Investment holding company, assumed control of Brenmill. In 2001 Steven Brenner and Eric Goldblum purchased 100% of Brenmill from Global Private Equity and in 2007 sold 60% of the business to KAP International.
Maize Meal Brands such as Shaya and Cup Final were created and these brands are still market leaders. The brand name Brennco has become synonymous with bird seed in the Formal Retail Sector, and Brennco Bird Seed is recognised as the brand leader in its category. It is supplied nationally to all major retailers.
Volumes have continued to grow, and apart from firmly entrenching existing brands, the company has started packing rice. Magic Rice is now a valued brand in the Limpopo, Northern Province and Mmpumalanga regions. The company has also increased volumes by becoming involved in the packing of various house brands and supplies House Brands for Spar and Pick & Pay.
To ensure that the highest standards of manufacturing are adhered to, the facilities are audited by outside auditors on a regular basis.
