KAP International Holdings Limited, listed on the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa under the Diversified Industrial sector, is a holding company of subsidiaries and associate companies invested in a portfolio of diverse manufacturing businesses. These include fresh and processed meat, maize milling, leather products, footwear, speciality fibres, bottle resin, automotive products and towelling products.
The group is operationally focused through an industrial (Feltex automotive, industrial footwear and Hosaf fibres) and a consumer segment (Bull Brand Foods, Brenner Mills, Jordan & Co and Glodina).
The company represents a diversified suite of investments across some of South Africa’s most buoyant industrial and consumer sectors. From processed meat and leather products, to footwear, towelling, synthetic fibres, bottle resins, automotive components and maize milling, KAP plays a leading, or dominant, role in the majority of its markets.
KAP International employees 6 082 people and controls assets of R2.7 billion which generated an annualized revenue of R 4.6 billion in the 2008 reporting period.
The Group’s head office is situated in Paarl with operations nationally located in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, East London, Ladysmith and Krugersdorp.
In July 2003 Daun & Cie gained control of Kolosus which consisted of a fresh and canned meat division (Bull Brand Foods), automotive leather (Feltex Automotive Leather) and footwear leather (Mossop Western Leathers). Kolosus was a JSE listed company which was used as a basis for new transactions which led to the acquisition of Feltex, Jordan, Hosaf and Glodina.
Kolosus then became KAP International Holdings with the new name being derived from the German translation of the Cape of Good Hope (Kap der Guten Hoffnung). KAP International Holdings was listed on the JSE in 2004.
